The British Archaeological Association is hosting an online conference on 3rd July 2021 in memory of our dear friend Cathy Oakes, who sadly died in 2019. Cathy was one of the founding members of the Centre for Marian Studies in 1995, and we benefited from her dedication to our charity and her expertise in Marian art over many years. The title of the event is inspired by Cathy’s book Ora Pro Nobis: The Virgin as Intercessor in Medieval Art and Devotion (2008).
Amongst the speakers are Sarah Jane Boss and Eileen Rubery from the Centre for Marian Studies, and they are joining with other colleagues who will focus on various aspects of Marian devotion in the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
